Seek out those with similar positive attitudes. Personal development is easier when your associates do not belittle your efforts and tempt you from your goals but instead share your drive for self-improvement.

Apply the basic principles that you have learned. All people have beliefs that tell what they are about. If you have good reason to have these beliefs, you will feel more confident and grow your self esteem by adhering to these beliefs and principles. If your goals are grounded by your principles, you’ll be more consistent in pursuing them.

If you would like to move forward in personal development, you should be humble. When you accept that you are but a tiny speck in the scope of our universe, you can begin to realize that there is much to learn if you hope to advance. A humble attitude puts you in the right mindset to learn new things and develop as a human being.

Strive to increase the time you spend working as much as possible in order to accomplish more. Take breaks regularly to stay focused on what you need to work on. Although this may not seem to make sense, frequent breaks can give you time to relax and get re-energized, so that you will be more focused when you return to your work.

Look for the things you admire or appreciate about others and give them compliments. Doing the exact opposite and being kind to others will help you be kind to yourself.

You need to have an emergency fund. Many people think that a credit card counts as an emergency fund. If you save just a little each week, you will have built up your emergency fund in no time. This money can help out in the short and long term because debt continues decreasing.

You can try writing yourself a motivational speech. On a postcard, write down all of your best qualities. Put this list up on a wall, or carry it with you. Better yet, read the list out loud while recording yourself. For what reason?

Avoid the temptation to comfort yourself with a shopping spree. Instead of shopping, spending money and adding more charges to your credit card bill, keep busy with a hobby. Not only will you have fewer debts to deal with, but your house will be less cluttered with stuff that you do not really need.

Don’t be a shopaholic like those people on Hoarders. Spend your time on more productive and useful pursuits. Clean the house, play an instrument or take up a sport. This will reduce stress, save you money and turn you into a more interesting, well-rounded person.

Remember to treat people with respect regardless of how much power they have, or what they can do for you. Treat people well, it says a lot about what kind of person you are.

Go with a friend to see a movie you enjoy. When you do, you are entering a social, public environment, but the actual amount of socializing you will have to do is fairly small. It also helps you acclimate yourself to being in a crowd.
